Episode Summary And Guide:

King Kai gives Goku his next assignment: to whack his personal assistant Gregory, a giant, incredibly fast grasshopper, over the head with a massive weighted hammer. He also relates to Goku how the Saiyans, who had at one time wiped out the only other humanoid race on Planet Vegeta (called the Tuffles), had risen to acts of interstellar terror, clearing entire planets for resale to other races. 

They had since been driven to near extinction, and only four individuals survived the destruction of Vegeta.

When Goku learns of the evil heritage of the Saiyans, he flies off in a burst of light towards Gregory, focused only on hammering him. Two weeks later, he succeeds! Back on Earth, Krillin and the others complete their training under Kami.

Trivia And Facts:

The events in this episode (including Gregory's existence) do not appear in the manga, and are mostly filler for the anime.The part of the story stating that the Kami of planet Vegeta destroyed it would later be contradicted when it is later revealed that Frieza destroyed the Saiyan homeworld.

Arriving at King Kai's planet face-first, Goku struggles against the overwhelming gravity and meets the Universe's Greatest Comedian, King Kai — or so he thinks. Goku mistook King Kai's pet monkey Bubbles for the King of the Other World. King Kai has one condition before he will train Goku: he must think of a joke that will make him laugh. Goku gives it his all and comes up with several weak puns that amuse King Kai immensely.

Perhaps King Kai isn't as funny as he thinks he is — Goku's new mentor tells him that the Saiyans are even stronger than himself, and gives him his first task: to catch Bubbles in the 10-G gravity of King Kai's World. Goku strenuously chases Bubbles, and after three weeks, finally manages to catch him! Impressed that Goku has overcome King Kai's planet ten-fold gravity, King Kai anticipates that Goku may be able to master the powerful "Kaioken" technique.

Half a year has passed, and Gohan's tail has grown back. So why has he unexpectedly attacked Piccolo, half-crazed with violence? There on the island where they are training lies the space pod that originally brought Goku to Earth as an infant. Inside, the flight computer is transmitting instructions to Goku, but Gohan is responding to them instead and is driven to frenzy. Furthermore, every space pod is equipped with a holographic moon image projector, which causes Gohan to metamorphose into a Great Ape! Piccolo finally realizes what is happening, and destroys the ship, returning Gohan to normal.
Over on the other side, Goku reaches the end of Snake Way, and discovers nothing but pink clouds — except for a tiny planetoid high above!

Gohan transforms into a Great Ape while trapped in an electrical attack, an obvious homage to Goku's transformation at the 21st World Martial Arts Tournament.

After half a year of overcoming emotional and physical hardship, Gohan is finally being trained by Piccolo. Meanwhile, up at Kami's Lookout, Krillin and the remaining Z Fighters are growing impatient with Kami, who after two months has still not given any lessons to his pupils. Mr. Popo then takes everyone (except Yajirobe) on a mental combat simulation, using an old and mysterious mechanism inside the palace.

There, in the middle of a long-since ruined Saiyan city, Tien and the others are attacked by two ferocious Saiyan warriors! The four of them put up a fight, but the odds are hopeless, and they are picked off one by one. Returning to the present, Kami tells the team that their opponents were only half as strong as genuine Saiyans! But rather than being frightened off by this revelation, the prospects of facing such incredible warriors renews the convictions of our heroes to fight!

Gohan washes up on a beach, where he is nearly taken for dead by two local children. Two years earlier, a giant tsunami destroyed the town, and now seven parentless kids are living together, resisting the attempts of the orphanage to institutionalize them.

Gohan recuperates under their care and becomes good friends with the children, when the head of the orphanage and the police arrive and try to round up everyone there! Everyone bands together under Pigero, the oldest of the bunch, and drive off the intruders. Gohan participates in a group food-heist, stealing fruit from the new town nearby, and makes a quick getaway.

The next day Gohan reveals that he still has his mother, and was on his way to see her when he got caught by the storm. Pigero says that Mt. Paozu is nearby, and is about to take him there when the police raid them again! Everyone struggles valiantly, but they are all captured — except for Gohan, who breaks the handcuffs off Pigero with his sword. Considering the future of his new siblings, Pigero escapes with Gohan in a stolen hovercraft, to the betrayal of the other orphans. Dropping him off on the slopes of Mt. Paozu, Pigero runs away to start a new life.

Gohan is finally within viewing distance of his home, but thinking about the orphans, who continue to be brave even without their parents, decides not to see his mother. Withdrawing into the forest, he discovers Piccolo, who sternly reminds him of his mission, and takes the boy back to the island.

Episode Summary And Guide:

Eight months remain until the Saiyans reach Earth! Piccolo splits his body into two, creating an identical twin that he can fight against. Elsewhere, Gohan is being followed by a suddenly tame Saber-Tooth Tiger and fashions a handmade sand yacht to cross the desert. In transit, he is attacked by a giant eagle which blows him into a densely forested area! The sand yacht was never designed for this kind of terrain, and finally goes to pieces on a downhill incline ending in a sheer cliff face! Gohan has found the ocean.

Walking along the beach for several days, he comes across his own tracks. Climbing a nearby mountain, he reaches the peak and discovers that his training ground was an island all along. Feeling a longing for his mother, he fashions a raft from the enclosing forest and, leaving the Saber-Tooth Tiger behind, sets out to sea. That night he encounters a terrible storm, and is engulfed in a cluster of waterspouts!

Episode Summary And Guide:

Krillin, Yamcha, Tien, Chiaotzu and Yajirobe gather at Kami's Lookout and begin their training. Meanwhile, Goku continues to tread the Snake Way from the beginning, where he encounters a castle to one side that wasn't there before. Inside, he meets the Princess Snake and her attendants, who are immediately smitten with him. She tries to ply him with food, dance (Goku thinks the Tango is a form of martial arts) and a hot bath, but when none of these stop him from trying to continue along the path, she plays her ace card: a sleeping potion.

A magical mirror shows that his dreams are only of Chi-Chi and Gohan. Spurned, she reveals her true form — an evil reptile goddess, tempting travellers along the road! Goku narrowly escapes the castle, which after the illusion is dropped turns out to be the goddess's body, a monstrous fire-breathing snake! As she pursues him, he manages to tangle her up into a knot, and continues along the million-mile path.
